The Historic Island Dairy and Island Lavender are owned and operated by Scott Sonoc and Marsha Williams. They first visited Washington Island many years ago, enjoying the year-round natural beauty nestled within a long established community of warm and welcoming citizens. Scott established his own architecture firm in Chicago and Marsha with a career in finance are both relishing their most recent endeavor as lavender farmers on beautiful Washington Island. more »

The Historic Island Dairy Grand Ballroom has high cathedral ceilings with expansive windows overlooking acres and acres of beautiful Island Lavender surrounding a picturesque Scandinavian Garden Pavilion. The Historic Island Dairy continues its historic role as an island business incubator welcoming and nurturing the entrepreneurial business spirit by providing a home for good ideas to become good businesses. Beginning with cheese-making and milk production to doughnut and fish sales, recent years have seen new wheat and lavender agribusinesses established. Guests have visited from as far away as China, Russia and South Africa, and other neighbors are riding the ferry from just across Death’s Door.
